Hi, I was accepted EA and I can't figure out whether I need to send them a midyear report. Thanks in advance!

Yes, the mid-year report is required of all SCEA accepted students, as well as the end-of-year report. Your acceptance is contingent upon your grades not slipping your senior year. https://college.harvard.edu/admissions/application-requirements

the school automatically sends the midyear report, right? You don’t have to ask or anything?

^^ Correct.

Prospector7,

That is not the case with my daughter’s school…students need to request that the midyear report be sent or it will not be. I’d recommend you check with your school rather than assuming it will automatically be sent.

High school do not generally send mid year reports to colleges on their own. Students need to follow the high schools procedure on this process. Check with the guidance office for information

Most high school guidance counselor’s are aware of sending-in mid year reports, as they are required to do so every year on behalf of student’s. But, student’s should double check with their GC to make sure the report has been sent.

why students need to send mid-year reports when there are final reports??

^^ It’s just the rules. It also gives colleges advance warning of a possible “senior slump” and allows Admissions to notify a student that their acceptance might be rescinded if the trend continues.

^^Thanks Gibby

the problem that we faced was that GC were so busy this time of year they didn’t keep track of the school and students who needed mid year reports, not all schools require them. At my kids school it was not a general rule to send mid year reports UNLESS the student requested the GC to do so.
