midyear report worries

For our school's midyear report, I thought they would just release our overall grades. But I heard that they will be releasing our first quarter, second quarter, midterm, and overall grade. The overall grade is 80% based on the two quarters and 20% based on the midterm. I'm really worried now because in my first quarter of physics honors I got an 89 and in my first quarter of BC Calc I got an 88. It's likely that in second quarter I may get another B+ in Calculus, and perhaps a B+ in AP Spanish (mostly because my teacher hasn't been here at all for the past few weeks). I'm confident I can get my Physics grade and AP Spanish grade above a 90 with the midterm, but these scattered B+s for quarter grades are still going to show on my report card.

I'm applying to a lot of ivys and T20 schools, so I'm REALLY worried.
Will colleges look at my quarter grades or just the overall average?
(I'm sry if this sounds stupid, but I could just imagine an adcom just seeing those 89s and getting a bad impression)

bump?

im sry if this post is trite…i just would really like some opinions, so I know what kind of shape I’m in.

They will look at the grades for what they are. Usually a mid-term report only has semester and exam grades, but maybe yours has quarter grades as well. A B+ or two amidst many A’s won’t hurt you, particularly considering they are rigorous courses. They alone will not put your application in the rejection pile. Apps are viewed holistically.

What does worrying accomplish? Nothing. Let it go, there’s nothing you can do. Good luck!

are Cs senior yr bad? i got B- in AP Lang and yeah im worried about mideyear reports screwing me over in the process

i currently have a B- in lang and finals are in a few days. just to clarify

Thanks @Pancaked, you have a good point.

Any other responses…for me or lakers2011?

bump one last time

i’m worrying the same thing…

Ok so turns out our school is only releasing semester averages, not quarter grades

But…my semester averages are likely gonna turn out like this:
AP Gov-95
AP Lit-96
AP Calc-88
AP Spanish-89
Physics Honors-92
Business Law/Anatomy-99s

I’m sorry to keep asking but…having 2 B+s instead of just one will probably hurt my chances, right? Seeing as I’ve never gotten below an A- on my transcript in the past…should I consider dropping AP Spanish? Or would this look worse…

ok i promise this is the last bump i’ll do before i give up on this thread

bump just for my last question and any of the other questions asked
it’s scary when i see so many posts on forums of kids talking about getting rejected from top schools with perfect grades, so these imminent b+s are really unsettling for me

Hey I have like the same problem.
I attend a specialized high school and during my junior year i received a 89.90/90.02 during my 2 semesters, while taking 1 AP. Now during my fist term of Senior Year (my midyear report), I think I will be getting an 83.3 - 85 (in that range), but I’m taking 3 AP’s this year as compared to 1 AP Junior year. Is that a huge drop off that will cause a red flag in my application? Thanks, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

You aren’t going to get rejected for a few B’s! Stop this nonsense!

The last thing you want to do is drop the class. That will look terrible on your final transcript. Besides, their decision will be made before your final transcript even comes out.
