I have a question about a mid year report. Does this report cover our 1st and 2nd quarter grade? Or is it just an average of our 1st semester grade? Does it contain midterm grades as well? How important is this kid year report for regular decision applicants? I am not satisfied with my senior grade right now because it is not as good as freshmen, soph and junior grades
Please answer to this question if you know anything about mid year report! Thanks!
It depends on how your school works. What appears on your transcript? Your semester grades, or does your school send quarter grades?
Also, it depends on the school you are applying to as some won’t consider your senior grades even if you ask them too, while some require senior year grades. They are probably not weighted as heavily as your junior year grades, but most schools probably take a look to make sure you are doing all right. Again though really varies by college.
@CollegeMan91 thanks for your response! I found out that our school sends out semester grade and also our midterm grades. I’ve applied to several top-tier schools and ivy leagues. I’m just worried because senior grade didn’t work out as well as I thought and I do not have good grades as of right now. It did not drop significantly compare to my junior grades, but my Gpa went down and also my ranking went down. Do you think mid year report will be the factor of determining whether to accept the applicant or not? (For toptier and Ivy leave schools) I just want to know how much they consider mid year report when considering for the applications… I hope it does not weight as heavy as junior year grades!
I’d say that they do matter. That being said, a solid cumulative GPA, and a solid junior year GPA are probably more heavily weighted. On the other hand, senior year is a better reflection most likely of what’s to come so you never know. Although ivy league schools are toss ups even for the best candidates so you just never know. Good luck! Hopefully all works out!
