Does Fordham require a midyear report or is it optional? If it's required, when does it need to be in by?

I'm glad someone posted this question; I'm curious, as well! In particular, I was curious about mid year grade reports for EA students who have already been accepted. Are they necessary, or will only a final grade report be required if the student decides to attend? Also: is there a mid-year grade report form available somewhere to download?

Thanks so much for any info!

We are having it sent anyway, Fordham can ignore it if the choose...my D was accepted EA, and her school sends out midyears automatically to ALL schools applied to regardless of status

My guidance counselor said that any schools that you have already been accepted to, its not ness. but you can send it. I don't really know if that's how it works but that is what they told me.

Admitted EA = Not Required

Deferred EA = Required

Others = Recommended

Fordham Admiss, my D was deferred and needs to send in her 2nd trimester grades. Because her school is on trimesters, the next trimester does not end until March 2nd and grades are not due to guidance until March 13th. Will that be too late to send the grades in order to be considered in time before final decisions are made. As I've mentioned before, Fordham is my D's number one school choice. She's visited the campus 3 times and interviewed this past summer! She really is concerned about the grades getting in on time.

Midyear grades would need to be in by Feb 15 to be included in the review. If someone is on trimesters, first trimester would be acceptable.

Fordham Admiss, thank you for the quick reply. My D will have to confirm that the first trimester grades were sent from her high school. Her deferral letter requested the next semesters' grades. Do we need to send in a formal note basically stating that my D is on trimesters so I doesn't appear that we were not willing to provide the information requested in her letter?

Oh, by the way. A rep in your office returned my daughter's call after she received her letter. She was at school so I did ask about the timing of the trimester ending and your final review. I was told just to fax them when they were available......

what happens when a student has a very low grade in one subject? my dd is having the worst time with AP Calc and could not drop it since it is a requirement at her school if you take AP Physics. Once we knew how badly things were going we hired a tutor. Her understanding is much improved but mostly not reflected in test scores - she is barely passing the class.
If EA accepted would a midyear or final report with a low grade mean the school would rescind the offer?
If regular admissions application would a very low grade mean (pretty much) automatic rejection?
Specifically at Fordham, and in general at most colleges?
ADVICE NEEDED!!!!

Recinding an offer of admission is an extreme measure. The circumstance you've described wouldn't, on its face, seem to equate to this result.

For a student not yet offered admission, we'd be reviewing this grade in context of the student's whole application. A very low grade (C, D, F) will factor in the decision. It may or may not be enough of a factor to tip a decision one way or another.

thanks for the feedback. I am fretting about this, and not getting far with extra info for the math tutor, not hearing from guidance about what could happen.
Child has admission to 2 state schools. Dreams of Fordham, HC, and some less well known small schools -St. Michael's, St. Mary's (public) Eckerd.
we convinced her to only apply to schools she loved, and not pick a true favorite.
Adding insult to injury, we have a low EFC and no clue if that will hurt as well.

Question re: MidYear Grade Report - my D was deferred from EA round and needs to send in her mid-year grades. Is there a specific form that needs to accompany the transcript, or just have the GC send the transcript. I looked around the online application and the paper application, but couldn't find anything.

No, there is no specific form she needs to complete. Just submit an updated transcript with the mid-year grades.

Thanks for your quick response. Now, hopefully the GC will get these out by next week. The report cards were just issued this past Friday and hopefully, they will be on top of updating the senior transcripts.

which way should I send the midyear grades to Fordham? Electronically or on paper?

Do you need to send in mid year grades if you applied RD?
