Is there any way to send both your first and second marking period grades in? My second marking period grades are better and I want UNC to see them.

were you deferred EA, or did you just apply?

no i applied regular decision and they want my midyear grades

im on a block/semester schedule, so i have the same problem. i have different grades for the same class for first and 2nd term, so i just averaged them

My ridiculous school still hasn't released official grades, even though the marking period ended over two weeks ago. I just sent them because I was 99.9% sure, and I was already accepted EA, so hopefully it won't be too big of a deal if something happens and I need to change them.

well fosho, you can submit your first terms grades. My school runs on a semester term, but we have 2 quarters per a semester, and our quarter grades are averaged along with our midterm exam. I reported my 1st quarter grades, even though for my school, those grades don't show up on my transcript, as our semester grades only do. I talked to UNC, and they said that they give you the choice about what grades to report, but just make sure they are accurate. Even though they might not be on your transcript, you can still report those, but make sure they are still accurate, so that they can be verified if they need to be in the future. They want your first term grades, and so even though your second term grades are better, they want you to submit your first term grades.

19392, since you already got in don't worry about it. You can't change them, but as long as you don't have any D's you should be good.

My son emailed admissions and asked whether he should average 1st and 2nd qtr grades or just enter 1st qtr. He was told to do neither but instead to enter the 1st qtr grades using the existing course titles such as Calculus BC AP. Then ADD a record calling it Calculus BC AP (2nd qtr) and record that grade. Then if you have a mid-term exam you ADD another record called Calculus BC AP (mid-term exam) and record that grade. She said you don't need to have these exact words but something similar and they'll figure it out. He was glad he asked because he had planned to average them but when he got to the page, it said to enter 1st semester or 1st qtr so he was just going to do 1st qtr.

what if i averaged my 1st and 2nd quarter grades? i already sent them in =(

but its not a big deal right? can i just call them and explain?

I think you should be fine. It was a reasonable thing to do. Some schools do it for you so I wouldn't worry. Doing it the way UNC suggested was a pain and it didn't work out too well. The system wouldn't list the 2nd qtr grades below the 1st qtr ones but mixed them all together. My son showed me and asked if he was doing something wrong. I tried and got the same results. I think that way was more confusing that averaging them together.

He wanted to forget the whole thing and just enter 1st qtr like it says on that page but he felt he had to do it the way they told him. He was sorry he emailed them. Another thing, on the first page it says to enter letter grade and numeric grade, but on the second page it says to put N/A if your school doesn't give letter grades. His school gives numeric grades only but on the transcript, it says what numeric range each letter covers. I think it makes sense to put a letter grade so that UNC knows what the equivalent letter grade is since each school has it's own system of determining what an A is. But he felt he couldn't list it since it specifically said not to.... I can now see how he got frustrated doing the applications. I didn't realize how confusing some of the wording is on this stuff.
