Would it be worth it to add a note explaining my rank situation? (we have 20 people sharing rank 1 but my grades are higher than the rest with the most rigorous courseload). I'd really like UVA to know this because I hear that if 20 people share a spot they have to assume you're rank 10 (20/2).

As a side note, although I may not mention it, but I've still maintained my average even with the death of my father last Nov, so things have been incredibly difficult and stressful lately (I am ready to explode). I don't want to work this hard if I am only going to hurt myself while simultaneously receiving no distinction between myself and the guy who barely makes the rank-1 spot with an 89.5-rounded-up average. What are my options and when should I send this report in? Sorry if I sound rude or anything, if so I promise it was unintentional.

why are you apologizing man? im sorry about your dad...i dont know if u applied online or not, but on the website it asks that midyear reports are sent in by February 15th. It also has a little text box where it asks if theres anything else you would like to tell them. I'd use this as an opportunity to explain about your class rank and anything else about your grades that you feel might need to be cleared up. i'd also ask your guidance counselor for advice, maybe he/she can make a call to the school and talk to them about your rank and what not. good luck with everything, take it easy
