midyear

If i got a letter asking me to submit my first sem senior grades online but i didnt do so great how should i go about explaning my grades and situation? I got a D in ap english and didnt do that great in my other classes but i had a bunch of family issues and am currently taking cp eng 4 sem 1 in adult school so its not outstanding, but the grade for that will be reported with my second semester grades. blah

Report your grades, and if there is a glaring decrease from the previous semester (like the D perhaps), then explain why. If it is a valid reason and not an excuse, I'm sure they will understand.

my first semester grades are baad but so far my second semester ones are good. im just worried because even if i do well second semester, those grades wont be out till june

same boat here, I have a question. Before my senior year I was doing well and kept up with a 3.85 GPA; this fall of senior year i badly screwed up my first semester gpa is 3.15. Am I screwed?

Well, why did you do so badly? If you felt that the crunch period was over and stopped working, the universities likely won't accept you, as they don't want people who work just to get into univeristy. They want students who are consistent and demonstrate passion for school and education. So Polite, your chances probably decrease because of the large fall in grades.

yeah like im afraid to report my grades, i dont want it to affect me badly especially since im taking the cp class to clear that d.

Define "screwed"

screwed = rejection. And its because i was stupid and took too many APs and couldn't keep up with the pace.

They won't rescind for the grades, but if they request your Midyear report you're not looking good.

Well if you took more APs, then they will recognize that you have a harder course load and they would expect you to do a bit worse. So don't worry about it, it might not harm your application.

I thought they sent Mid year report requests to a lot of the applicants just to check...but do they only single out boardline or is it just pretty much everyone??

I think the key here is to be honest. I had a significant drop in my grades last year (I almost failed a couple of classes), so I wrote a letter to the admissions office along with my application, stating the reasons for the drop in grades. I explained to them that I was not using this as an excuse, but more, rather, as a little bit of insight for the admissions commitee to take into consideration. Just be honest, tell them how you feel, and don't be afraid to admit a mistake if you made one.

To be honest, I don't know what percentage of applicants get them. I personally didn't receive a request and I was far from a shoo-in for admission. I would be more inclined to say that it was for borderline applicants though.

Was your reason anything related to a family problem or such? I'm not trying to pinpoint it, I'm just curious if they would accept a letter about choosing the wrong class/interest.

My senior 1st semester GPA is my lowest ever, although my cumulative B/B+ GPA is still intact, and only decreased in the hundredths. I've received the two scholarship denial letter, and the Mid-year report request.

Is there anything I can do? Or should I just submit my grades and find a magic lamp?

My daughter has not received a request for midyear grades but her high school sends them automatically. Since her grades dropped should we ask her high school not to send them?

Thats what I am asking my school to do

I just remembered that my school told everyone in January that they are sending every school we applied to our midyear reports. It's already February, and I've received the denial for scholarships and the midyear request... conspiracy.
