Might as well ask fer chances...

Admission already?? Or is this just regular undergrad?

You're one lucky guy...Pittsburgh + Drexel

I thought Drexel's deadline for the BS/MD prog was Oct 1.

You must apply to Drexel for their scholarship. Drexel is rolling.

Evil did you get the AJ Drexel scholarship?

so can someone clarify if its Dec 1st or 15th for drexel

By the way...Drexel's BS/MD Program deadline is Dec 1st

http://www.drexel.edu/admin/em/apply/accelerated/default.html

md4me - yea I didn't have to seperately apply for it or anything.
drexel undergraduate is rolling admissions I believe.

darth - regular undergrad
and thanks :)

aspen - yea I did, the AJ drexel one.

I wonder what it takes to get drex's presidential scholarship

Just got mail yesterday from Drexel undergrad

Pennoni honors college + AJ Drexel (17,500) scholarship.

Don't know when I'll hear from BS/MD though...just says interviews will happen in February

nicely done raid3r, yea interviews are in february... i think i'm gonna try calling them for an interview in january sometime.

Are we notified in jan for ints?

hmm just yesterday i got into drexel with the same stuff as darth raid3r...dean's scholar ($17,500) + pennoni honors college....and they said i'll be notified at another time for the med program...didn't say nething bout jan or feb

How strongly are you guys considering Drexel if you get into the med program?

I'm just curious because nowadays I keep thinking maybe I'll have a decent shot of a better med school if I go to a good premed program somewhere. I mean, we still have to take the MCAT and get a 30, a little higher would be a competitive score for other med schools too.

i'm thinking that if i do get a really high score on the mcat (say 34ish) and my gpa is up there too, im gonna go ahead and apply to other schools...if they take away my drexel spot, with high scores, it shouldn't hurt too much

evilbooya, darthraider, and pipinghottofu... CONGRATS!!!!

i got in too. a full ride to drexel undergrad (aj drexel + scholarship i got to drexel from last yr) + honors

Congrats on the full-ride optimistic!

congrats optimistic!!!!!1

Mmm, just chiming in because Raid3r asked a good quesiton about considering Drexel. I personally cancelled my Drexel app (to my parents' dismay) because I knew I didn't want to go to Drexel even if I was guaranteed that MD.

It's one of those things where I'm not going to think poorly of myself and believe that after four years of success in High School I'm going to drop off an academic cliff into 2.0-land. I know that I'm perfectly capable of surviving college with my gpa solid and intact, and doing well enough on the MCATs to not have to worry about the med school I get into. (Especially with programs like Drexel's where you still have to take those MCATs... not much of a guarantee there... so if you have to study stupid hard anyway, why do it a school you may not like as much as some others? If you can get that 30, you can get the 34 or 35.)

Sure that's a bit arrogant, but we've all done a pretty good job so far - judging on academics and ec's - that we've earned it.

Congrats to those of you with full rides, enjoy it while I wait for all 9 of my RD results to come in cries

I don't think it's arrogant at all...that's exactly what I was getting at.

We're all obviously good high school students, and it seems like if we wouldn't be part of the 50% of premeds to get in to med school, the people that do get in would have to be downright amazing. Sure, pre-med will take a lot more stress and effort than a combined program, but that's something we're all used to.

Of course, Rice/Baylor, HPME, USC would all be options worth taking, but since they're too far out of my league, I have to think about Drexel/UMKC.

This is why I'm feeling unsure about Drexel Med compared to my better undergrad options (Duke, Rice, Northwestern, Brown)...I'd rather go there and be in a good college environment, work hard for GPA, and get a 30+ on the MCAT and take my chances with med school admissions.

true...as of right now...i've applied to about 13-14 different programs ranging in difficulty from nu hpme to drexel med, and undergrad at ivy's and colleges like duke and bc...so, i pretty much am not worrying about where i go until i find out where i got in...then i go from there...

I've already got into places like rutgers, villanova, drexel and such so i've got my safeties in place too, and villanova isn't a bad option at all for undergrad

Glad you understand Raid3r! And yeah, they can't get much more amazing than us, can they? ;)

I believe that we're all good for the "more stress" of premed, I mean of the 50% of premeds who do go to med school, I guarantee there have been many many many who didn't have as much HS success as we do. So, in the end it's worth a shot.

I've got a friend in the VCU program who took the MCATs because he realized he didn't want to go to VCU for medschool, and he's glad he did because though he didn't wanna talk scores, it's good enough to get him out of VCU med and into somewhere better.

And Tofu, you're out of your silly little mind man! Whatever compels you to apply to SO MANY SCHOOLS!? Heh, like I said I did 3 programs because I would rather have the stress of premed and go to a school I actually fit in at and enjoy than guarantee myself an MD but 7 to 8 years of semihell (yes, it's a word now)

Mmm Raid3r... Brown's my top choice. Maybe we'll meet up there! (only school I care about, anyway)

I think I said these same points on another thread and someone totally jumped on me for saying that applying out to a better med school is a good idea...hahah Silly CC kids..
