I may get a D in math. Im going to do everything I can to try and get a C, but if I do will it affect anything at the schools I have been accepted to (Indiana, Iowa, Mizzou)? I will still most likely get at least a 3.0. If anyone had a similar experience or has knowledge on this help would be appreciated!!

Yes, a D for many schools would negate credit for that class. Meaning it would be like you didn’t take the class at all (and it would negatively affect your GPA). If this is a math class where you need that credit (e…g., the college you are applying to requires a certain number of years of math and this math class fulfills one of those years) then you could be in real trouble.

I will still have more than enough credits, even if the semester does not count.

This happened to someone I know during second semester of senior year. He had to send a letter to the college he was planning to attend owning up to the grade and mainly just accepting full responsibility, and everything worked out in the end. If it comes down to it, just sit down with your guidance counselor and talk over what would go in the letter. Colleges generally don’t want to rescind acceptances, but they want to know that you take responsibility and that you’re trying in the class.

Yes many colleges will rescind for a D. I don’t know about those colleges in particular but I wouldn’t be surprised, especially since your overall gpa isn’t that strong. In my state in the UC system it does happen often. Sometimes they will let it slide, almost always when the student proactively contacts them. You should talk to your GC asap and ask if it endangers you for those colleges or majors if you are in a particular major. More importantly, do everything you can to pull a C. Go see your teacher and tell him you are trying to get on track and ask for help. Drop any extra activities instead of getting a D.

Thanks I am doing whatever I can do, but just in case I want to be prepared for the worst
