ok, so i’m graduating early and therefore i’m taking english 12 online to satisfy graduation and admission requirements. but something that has been bothering me, what if i don’t finish on time? meaning i’ll be missing a semester of english. i highly doubt that’ll happen, but it’s still possible. well, if that situation arises, my plan is not graduate but take the GED, then i’m taking composition I over the summer at a community college just to get it out of the way, so either way i still have 4 yrs of english and either a diploma or GED. plus if they want, i can send my transcript up to he end of the year with that missing semester of english so they can see that i did well in all my other classes. do you think that’ll effect me at all with anything? i don’t think they’ll revoke my acceptance, but what about scholarships?
this seems like a dumb question, which is why i prefer not to ask the admissions office. but i’m just curious. by the way, the college i’m talking about purdue, so nothing too prestigious or selective.

For something like this it is important that you get an answer directly from the school. Admission staff get questions like this all the time; they won't think it is dumb.

I dont' know about your state's requirements at Perdue, but don't mess with this if could affect your acceptence and especially scholarships, man!

You really need to call them to see. Don't find out after the fact. Call and have it explained.

I do think scholarships would be affected, but your admission could be too. I'm guessing you were admitted with condition of graduating HS, and not graduating is another admission twist. When would you take the GED and have results? Did you check if there are other requirements/SAT scores or deadlines for GED takers vs. HS applicants?

Why not finish the English and not mess with your acceptance?

just a thought, i'm trying to finish. it's just that my life is so hectic right now that the thought that i might run out of time has crossed my mind. but i'm like 97% sure i'll finish. this is a "what if" question. i've alreadly looked into dates to take the GED. i'll know by mid april whether or not i'll finish english, then there's a test date April 30. i'm not sure how quickly scores come, but it'll probably come before the fall semester. and according to purdue's application instructions, they'll take diploma or GED, and it doesn't make any reference to additional materials, tests, records, etc. if i have a GED. according to this one statement, it shouldn't affect financial aid. so i guess that leaves scholarship up in the air. but i've done really well in HS and engineering merit scholarships are considered on an individual basis, so i might be ok there. my main issue is whether or not CompI can fill that final semester of English. it won't for my school district, so i'm screwed there (which is why i'd get a GED), but for purdue it might work. remember, all this is only IF i don't finish english, but i plan on finishing, i just want to be prepared for the worst case scenario. i emailed purdue a couple hours ago, so i guess this no longer requires any response.

Well thanks for not requireing a response. Please dont' bother people if you don't need it. I wasted a post on you, and really thinking and worrying about you, but I can tell you butkiss about Perdue admissions. Good thing you emailed them, why post here? Slap you upside if you were in reach.

And dont' axe me a question next time you are stoned!

i did all the researching after i posted. so at the time, i wasn't sure what to do. so i posted, checked everything out, then e-mailed purdue after reidm's post, and all. would you have preferred i post nothing about what i found out and continue to let you worry? if you look at the times, there's six hours between my first and second post. during the six hour period is when i figured out everything that i stated in the second post. though i don't want you to think it took me six hours to figure all that out, i'd like to think i'm a tad bit better at researching things. i said "this no longer requires a response" because i posted a question, and while waiting for an answer, i also seached for answers. i found what i was looking for, so i just thought i'd let everyone know that i've figured out what to do and they shouldn't bother helping anymore.

by the way, i've never been stoned in my life, i don't appreciate being called butkiss (i don't even understand why you would use that as an insult in the given circumstances), if you were to slap me, you'd regret it pretty quickly, and it's purdue, not perdue.

just some random after thoughts. some things you said just kinda bothered me a bit. sorry to be rude, but i'm not about to let accusations, name calling, and threats (though an empty threat) just slide by. and the spelling is just a pet peeve.
