Might switch from Petroleum to Fire protection engineering.

I am going into my 3rd year of engineering but I may not continue with Petroleum engineering any more. I am looking into transferring back to my old university in Maryland to study Fire protection engineering.

I have found fire protection engineers can potentially work on Arson forensic investigations for the government. Forensics and investigation is where my interests lie.

My questions are:

What sort of technical subjects & knowledge do FP engineers rely on or use?
What are the job duties of a FP engineer?
Is there a good job market for FP engineers and are they well paid? (especially in forensics)

Any FP students or graduates have any other advice for me?

You were all about Alaska… why the change of heart?

I hate to say it but “i told you so” =) With all being said, make sure they accept your credit transfer. Go with what you really want while you are still young.
