Military and tuition

Nope, unless you go back to Korea for college.

In US, if you don’t have

  1. high stat, which at least include high SAT/ACT score and GPA AND apply to schools with merit aid
  2. or enough money to afford college

there aren’t many choices for you. Going to the military just for tuition purpose is not really a practical way, and judging by some of your threads, it seems you barely did any researches on how financial aid works; you applied to UIUC and UMich-Ann Arbor, neither of which gives any kind of financial aid to OOS students. It’s entirely your fault that you applied to schools that will never give a cent to you, only to run into dead ends.

What is your current visa status? You may be able to take a gap year and reapply to school. This time, I advise you to apply to University of Alabama, LSU(if you are very high in stat) Howard University(not sure if it’s a good fit for you since it’s HBCU, but hey, you don’t have many choices), or decent mid tier school s that give significant amount of merit aid.

In addition to what paul said, there are few other automatic full scholarship schools, including two U Alabama and others less known schools. Look it up.

You also may look into the following schools, see if you can afford them. Some of those only charge less than $20K/year for full COA and they have scholarships as well to reduce the price to around $15K/year.

If you got your green card during your gap year, you will get additional help from many other schools.

It’s virtually impossible to get green card unless one doesn’t have a family tie who has citizenship…

There are three. UA, UAH, and UAB.

Your stats are great. You can get full tuition as seen here ^. You need to do your research and apply strategically. You may be able to get some room and board and books and travel expenses if you look into and apply to the honors programs. You cannot just blunder in and expect it to work out. You have the raw materials- now do the research and be strategic!

Macauley Honors does not provide the financial aid you want to non-NY residents.

Take a gap year, and use it productively. Plan out how you can grow/develop during that time. Good luck!

You have a work permit now, and your green card is in process. Take a gap year. Work (you already have that permission), create a better application list for yourself (check through everything in this thread too: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1678964-links-to-popular-threads-on-scholarships-and-lower-cost-colleges.html#latest ), and then reapply for fall 2016. Verify the scholarship situations for both international and domestic applicants in case you still don’t have your green card by this time next year.
