Military enlistment

So I have a friend who has the same stats as me in terms of GPA, ACT, extracurriculars, etc. The only difference is that she is enlisted in the military… So my question is, does military enlistment increase your chances of getting into a college, say Northwestern?

I am not sure if it will necessarily give her a stellar “one up”, because a school like Northwestern doesn’t do everything off of paper. It is true though that being enlisted will give a high chance that she has some life experience and has learned some things the average person hasn’t experienced before. That being said, I think it depends if the school is military friendly or not which Northwestern is and will see her past military experience as something positive on her application.

I say that all stats being equal, military experience definitely helps. I don’t think I would have gotten into GW without mine.
