Military/Transferring to USC

Hey guys,

My name is David, and I've been roaming around this website for a while, and this is my first question.

Simply put, my dream school is USC, and I was curious if being in the military among other things will help in the decision process of whether I get accepted or not. Or do schools like USC not factor in these things.

I had an overall average gpa of 3.0 in high school which wasn't too good and I took the SAT cold once and my total score was a 1560(not great). Though, I just finished my first year of community college and have an overall average gpa of 3.784 at the moment. My first semester I got a 3.5 gpa, my second semester I achieved a 4.0 gpa but that was with 3 classes so as a part time student( I dropped one class) so they averaged my gpa out to 3.68. And my most recent semester which was this summer I achieved a 4.0. The classes I have taken are essentially all general education courses such as english, math, sociology, computer science 1, oral speech, anthropology, a second english class, history among other such courses. Oh, and by the way, my intended major is Nursing as I want to be an RN.(my job in the army is a medic)

This current year I am not attending college as I am getting ready to leave for 8-9 months for the military, so when I return and complete my second year of community college and it is time to apply to schools. If I stay on my current path and keep up a gpa in the 3.7-3.9 range, would I essentially have a pretty good shot of getting into USC(university of southern cal, not south carolina).

Also, if any of you have any other suggestions on possible schools, that would be great. I'm open to all opinions and criticisms and any advice. Sorry for the long post.
