Hello, I am a highschool student looking to apply to Minerva.Kgi.
My gpa is a 3.15 however, I have made my own club, and am in the midst of creating my own business and app. Ive made quite a few websites and am looking to expand on that. The reason my gpa is so low is because I have suffered quite a bit of family losses during my sophomore year and have given myself chronic vertigo along with chronic tennis elbow during junior year. I was wondering what my chances were?
Hey! I’m a current student at Minerva, and I think you absolutely should apply!
The important thing is that you demonstrate to the admissions committee through your application that you’re a bright, motivated, and capable candidate. Making your own club and business and app are great things to write about in your application when it asks for your accomplishments! There are other parts of the application that are designed to judge your cognitive and creative abilities, which will show the admissions team you’re much more than your GPA.
I think they do look at grades, but mostly as a sign of your ability to overcome challenges and work hard, so I wouldn’t let your grades stop you from applying, especially since the application is free and has even been described as “not that bad.”
(The puzzle solving portion is actually pretty cool.) I think there’s a section for you to describe extenuating circumstances on the app as well, where you can write about your specific circumstances. I’m sorry to hear about your family losses.
Let me know if you have any other questions! I love studying at Minerva, so I’m happy to try to convince you and anybody else reading this that you should apply!
Last thing, because I know the admission rate % is intimidating––a few things that will improve your chances: speaking and writing fluently in English, completing the entire application (this is the easiest way to improve your chances haha), and presenting yourself well in the accomplishments section, highlighting the significance of your accomplishments, personal and/or externally.
Good luck!
