Hi guys, i thought i did very well on the essays on this year's exam, but i thought i bombed the multiple choice (like 50% correct). if i get like three 8/9's on the essay and 50% right can i still get a 5? ALSO, follow up question... what bearing does the multiple choice section of this test have on SAT critical reading? can they be compared? thank you!

The cutoff score for getting a 5 on AP Eng Lang is a 70%, which is, in fact, a lot higher than many APs. Since the free response is 55% of your overall score, let’s say you got three 8s (or 7, 8, 9 or any other combo that averages to 8) on your essays. That translates to 8/9 or 88.89% of the FRQ points, or 48.89% of the possible 100% combined score. If you got exactly 50% of the MC points after taking away the fourth-points for the ones you guessed incorrectly on, then that’s another 22.5%, boosting you to 71.3%, just over the 5 threshold. So yes, it is theoretically possible, but not all that entirely likely. Moral of the story? The essays count for a LOT.

bumpity bump, i need one more opinion!
