minimum GPA for intel/nvidia/AMD internship

(yes another min GPA thread)

I'm curious as to how much GPA matters vs. experience when trying to get into the computer architecture/embedded systems field.

I'm a sophomore at U of Michigan - Ann Arbor and have a 3.1 GPA in Electrical Engineering, which isn't all that impressive but I'm also working part time as a CAD designer co-op at Ford Motor Company while going to school and have an internship as an Electrical Engineer at Ford this summer. On top of that I'm on the University's Formula SAE team (race car) as the electronics system leader so I design and build a wiring harness, work with a Bosch motorsport ECU, CAN protocols, and created a circuit board for our dash using EAGLE that sends and receives data from the ECU over CAN.

I'm pretty busy to say the least and my grades have suffered. I'm also trying to get out of the auto industry (progress in this business is slow and I'm sick of the cold) and into the tech industry.

I want to get an internship at a company like the ones listed in the thread title the summer of my junior year, just to get my foot in the door of this industry, but I see "minimum GPA of 3.5" floated around a lot.

any advice for me?
