Does anyone know what the minimum GPA for Berkeley is? Would a 3.4 still get me accepted? I have done a LOT of volunteering. I have volunteered at my local library since Freshman year up to now and I have like over 300+ hours. I'm trying to study harder for the SAT and ACT for the fall because I got only a 1790. Based on the Youtube video I saw for admission in Berkeley, they say that the admission group looks for "diversity:. DO you think I will have a chance?

3.4 (UC weighted) is the minimum eligibility GPA for out-of-state applicants to UC. However, Berkeley is typically much more selective than that. If 3.4 is unweighted and you have at least 8 semesters’ worth of AP courses, then your UC weighted GPA is probably around 3.7 to 3.8, which may give you an outside chance applying to L&S (i.e. reach), with other divisions probably being super-reach.

Also, can you afford any UC as an out-of-state student? Check the net price calculator – there is no financial aid coverage for the approximately $23,000 additional out-of-state tuition.

How is the UC Weighted GPA calculated? I went to the Berkeley website but couldn’t find a way… Also, for the A-G requirement, does it all have to be in sophomore and junior year or does Berkeley also look at freshman year for that?

9th grade courses with C or higher grades do count toward a-g requirements, but do not count in the UC-weighted GPA. However, the grades will be visible to admissions readers.

I calculated my UC GPA and I have a 3.78. Will this give me a chance? Do you know anyone who got accepted with this kind of GPA?

Here is a link to the Freshman Profile 2014. These are the averages, so to have a good chance at an acceptance, you would want to be at or above the posted stats.

It is not just GPA but your test scores, extra circulars, essays and course rigor that will aid your application.
