Minimum GPA of 3.8

Hi, everyone. I'm a hs junior and I heard from a friend this weekend that when Michigan receives applications, they first go through it and automatically reject anyone who doesn't have at least a 3.8 GPA and a minimum SAT score of 1280. I'm not that concerned with the SAT minimum since I expect to do at least 1400. However, my unweighted GPA is about 3.7, which would knock me out at first pass. Does anyone know a minimum FPA of 3.8 is a prerequsite before they even look at the rest of my application? Don't good ec's mean anything at Michigan?

Where did your friend hear this? It's completely false information. There is no minimum GPA.

There is no minimum GPA, and if there was, it would certainly not be that high.

Thanks to both of you for the quick response. I don't know where he heard it, but he sounded like he knew what he was talking about. Thanks again.

bro, i got in with a 3.45 unweighted gpa (my SAT was a 2140; 1400 without writing). clearly, your friend is wack.

also, good EC's definitely help not only at michigan, but everywhere. they can help round out your application and make up for things that you may be lacking (like my 3.45 gpa).

I laugh at you and your GPAs over 3.2

see you guys in AA this fall!
