I thought 2nd semester senior was all about just having fun and not worrying about my grades! But then this came to my mind. WHAT IF I WAS ADMITTED BUT MY GPA WAS SO LOW THAT THE SCHOOL WOULD PUT ME ON ACADEMIC PROBATION? Does anyone know what that really means? Will you be rejected forever even after you were originally admitted but had really low GPA in 2nd semester? and what's the minimum GPA you need to maintain after you're admitted? I'm kinda panicking. I should start take caring of my grades. Ah. =(

Put in maximum effort and don’t slip again. If you want to go to a good college then half a semester of low-profile working is going to do nothing to prepare you for the hard work of college. If you are one of those hard core lazy types though, just don’t let things slip too much past b- and don’t get multiple C’s. Where were you accepted? We need to know this to better gauge our answers. If you got in to harvard you would want your grades remaining in the A’s :P

UC requires a minimum GPA of 3, and no classes lower than a ‘C’ …
if you want to have fun, have fun during the summer, your job is still a student …

Part of your post makes me think you believe you carry your high school GPA into college. You don’t. You start fresh. So, while the senior year of high school is important, as long as you get into a college and do reasonably well to finish high school and actually graduate, you will be fine. Once in college, you start again. Colleges then have SAP standards (Satisfactory Academic Progress) that you must meet to keep your financial aid and not be put on probation or dismissed. The college should explain all of that to you, or it should be in a handbook you will receive.

Usually you have to be getting lower than Cs (and in some cases failing) before they consider rescinding your acceptance.
