Minimum GPA to Maintain For Berkeley Transfer

I'm pretty burnt out from school and stuff so this semester my grades and attendance have not been up to par with my previous semesters. I'm pretty sure I have at least a 3.0 gpa but I am borderline for many subjects so I can swing a high gpa if I get lucky. The thing is, I want to go to Berkeley and I am afraid my performance this semester will get my admission rescinded. I've recieved conflicting information about the minimum gpa to maintain to prevent an admission getting rescinded. I believe on here I keep hearing a 3.0 flat with no Ds or Fs. Yet when I asked my undergraduate English advisor she said I should strive for like a 3.5 or 3.75 this semester in order to not raise eyebrows from Berkeley. Does anyone have definite information regarding the baseline gpa I can skate by with this semester? I mean wouldn't it make sense that sense Berkeley has higher admissions standards that they have a higher minimum gpa to maintain than the other UCs.

Thanks in advance for the help...I'm going crazy with the 'getting rescinded nightmares'...

I've seen 3.0 (I think for overall and your last semester). I wonder if those who fail end up getting their spots taken by appellants?

can you link me, g1a2b3e? if you have a link

can any cal transfers from previous years vouch for this 3.0 gpa?

That's a good question. I know that Berkeley is one of the few UCs that sets space aside for appeals. But really, they wouldn't know (unless you tell them) that you've failed to meet your conditions until July 15th when transcripts are due, well after appeal decisions.

wow, if it really is a 3.0 that takes a load off my back. I can totally skate through the rest of the semester and get that baseline three oh. Hurray for sophmoritis! haha, can anyone confirm this low 3.0 requirement?

I can't absolutely confirm it, but it seems about right considering what I remember of last year's accepted people. You could always search back there.

are you trying to get into the english major?

"I know that Berkeley is one of the few UCs that sets space aside for appeals."

How do you know that?

yea, I'd like some info into this...Do we have to have at least 3.0 for all terms after Fall 05? (Cuz I'm at ucsd).

Is cumulative GPA most important here?

g1a2b3e: ""I know that Berkeley is one of the few UCs that sets space aside for appeals."

How do you know that?"

they say so in the UC pdf regarding appeals. LA is the other school that reserves space for appeals.

any more thoughts?

mschop is right. I don't know where it went, but the pdf is called "Appeals Matrix."

Here is a quote from the UCLA website titled "Appeals to Admission Decisions - Transfer Applicants":

"UCLA does not set aside space in our class for students who appeal admission decisions."

So you're wrong. Where is the PDF you were referring to?

<a href="http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/AppealsTr.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/AppealsTr.htm</a></p>

<a href="http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/news/compreview/0308_meeting/appeals_matrix.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/news/compreview/0308_meeting/appeals_matrix.pdf</a></p>

It's two years old, which may account for any conflicting information.

Obviously the information directly from the currently updated UCLA website wins out. In addition, most of the information in that pdf is directed towards freshmen.

As for Berkeley, although I haven't read anywhere that they don't reserve space, we need a current document, phonecall, etc. to verify they actually do reserve space.
