minimum gpa?

Whats the minimum gpa requirement for Maryland if there is one? And how much easier is it to get accepted for residents?

.....anyone???

There's no minimum GPA. But I would say pretty much everyone who gets in has at least 3.5 gpa. And to answer you second question, 66% of students here are In-state students, while 34% Out-of-state students. I hope that helps.

ya that helps thanks

yeah, a 3.5 is pretty common but i had just below it and ended up in scholars. If someone lacks in their grades they can make it up by other things but you all know GPA is one of the most important things.

Cheapseats, were you in-state when you applied?

I had a 3.24 GPA, and a 3.7 Weighted GPA. There really is not a minimum, as many posters have said, but if you have a not so hot GPA (like me), all hope is not lost. I had a decent SAT, decent ECs, and had some unusual circumstances that was the reason for my low GPA (I would have had a 3.6-3.7).

yeah, i was instate with a 3.4-something and about a 4.0 weighted. I had a 1380 SAT

Isnit it way easier if your in state to get in even if you have a low gpa?

bump........

In-state IS easier.. but from your chances thread, you said you have a 3.2 GPA which is still lower than the average.

but i assumed that most state universities accept you if you have at least a 3.0 gpa

No, because UMD is becoming a more competitive school. Besides, no universities accept you automatically based on GPA alone....well some do...but those are very low-tier universities...
