Hey everyone,
I am looking at Emory and was wondering about requirements. I am right now a senior in high school with a 3.7 GPA and a 28 ACT. What do you guys believe are the minimum requirements to get in and if I even have a chance. Thanks!

Technically, there are no minimum requirements. All applications are reviewed, and they are reviewed holistically.

The mid 50% range for the ACT is 29-33. The average uw gpa is ~3.7 and 9/10 admits graduated in the top ten percent of his/her class. The admit rate ~35%.

So, clearly, you stand a chance. If you are interested in Emory, filling out an application is NOT a waste of time.

Thanks for the encouragement man. I have read that 1/3 of the Emory population is Jewish. I am Jewish; would this fact help me get accepted?

Oh, and another thing, how are they about giving out scholarships? I don't know many people that are willing to flat out pay 40,000 a year for college. How did you guys get extra money for this school?
Thanks

I'm not sure how being Jewish affects your application at Emory. In any case, I don't think looking at the percentage represented of an ethnic group is a reliable measure for determining whether or not they have a preference for admitting that ethnic group. For example, there is a small percentage of Latinos at Emory (less than 5%), yet certainly being Latino is an advantage in the admissions process.

Emory is need-blind, and they generously offer finacial aid. Work study programs are available for students. Emory Scholar's program gives 2/3 and full ride scholarships, but these scholarhsips are only offered to students with exceptionally high SAT's and GPA's. Other than that, I mean.. there is parents, loans, part-time jobs, savings, selling drugs..

Thanks for the help man; I rather not resort to the things you mentioned (especially the drugs:) ). As you see I am a rather good student yet nothing spectacular. You think I could get around half off the original tuition? (BTW what is the original tuition amount)?

Not in merit aid. The only way that's really feasible is through scholar's program, and the deadline of Nov. 1st has already passed. Plus, admittance usually requires ~34-36 ACT, ~1500-1600 SAT.
