I am an American student in an American high school and have already applied to McGill but just recently found out about their minimum requirements, for my programs they are as listed:

"Courses: pre-calculus; two of biology, chemistry or physics
SAT IIs: two of Math, Biology, Chemistry or Physics.

B+ average in grades 10, 11 and 12; B+ in each prerequisite math and science; SAT I and II Math as per minimum requirements‡ or ACT 27 "

Here is my dilema, I do not have a B+ or higher in my pre-calculus BUT i do have a B+ or higher in my calculus class, will that be considered? Also, I have/am taking 2 years of biology (one honors one AP), 2 of chemistry (one honors one AP), and 1 of physics (AP), out of those 5 total classes, some are B+ and above and some are not, will the fact that I do not have all of those classes above a B+ make me automatically ineligible for admission or will they only check that i have at least one B+ in bio and one B+ in chem?

Sorry for the long and slightly difficult to read post, but I am starting to get really nervous here... Also, if in the eyes of the ad coms I do meet the minimum requirements, would my following statistics give me a reasonable (above 20%, in your eyes of course) chance of admittance?

GPA UW: 3.45
GP W: 3.98
SAT I: CR: 750, Math 800, Writing 750
SAT II: Math II: 790, Bio (M) 720
ACT: 34
Rank: Top 10%

Thank you all very much for your time, with the decisions already coming out I would very much like to know where I stand.

You have a rather low GPA but very strong test scores, so I’d say you have a pretty good shot; though I think McGill admissions are pretty competitive in spite of the relatively high acceptance rate.

I know they are competitive, and I ALSO know my grades are crap, definitely regret enjoying my high school career… Thank you for taking the time to respond and hopefully I meet minimum standards and my test scores will carry me through…

If it changes anything I applied to the Science Programs Bsc.

I was curious about the pre-calculus requirement – my daughter, an American student, just took an after school class to test out of precalculus in her junior year, in order to go straight into Calculus AB her junior year, followed by Calculus CD her senior year. Would not having PRE-calculus, but both calculus AB and CD meet the admission requirements?
Thanks!

^ I’m curious about that too. I took Trigonometry, not Pre-Calc, but I’ll be taking Calculus (level 1) senior year. Would that fulfill my Pre-Calc requirement for Management?

From what I heard from teacher when asking them about it when I visited McGill, the pre-calculus requirement exists so that students will be ready to take Calculus once they enter McGill. If you’ve already taken calculus, you’ll be more than ready for it, and if you did well on the AP test, you might be able to skip over that first year of calculus altogether.

DreamingofIvy:
I got into McGill with a B- Average in Precalculus and a B in Calculus. Though I did not get into the Bsc, I got into Bscag( Agriculture). However, I did not get into Bachelor of Sciences because I didn’t meet the requirements, but just insufficient space due to the fact that I applied for the Life Science Faculties. You have very strong test scores, but your GPA is low. Bachelor of Science tends to be very competitive, but I’m pretty sure you have a strong chance of getting in.
