@redbug119 yes, he will be living in the dorms. He attends a residential high school now and their schedule is very similar. His academics are in the morning and his art classes start at 1:30 - 6:00 and then he has some days he is required to be back in the studio at 6:30 - 9:00. So at least he is used to this type of schedule! Of course he is in the studios almost every night anyway…even when he is required to be. I feel his experience over the past 2 years in such an intensive high school program will have him very prepared for MCAD.
Thanks for all the great info you have shared! I really appreciate it! Can’t believe he graduates in 2 weeks and in little over 3 months we will be heading to Minneapolis. Yikes!
The dorms are right across the street (lawn really) from the campus, so even in the bad weather, it’s never a problem to get to class. My daughter was like that too, working into the wee hours of the morning. He should be well prepared! Have you visited the campus yet?
@redbug119 Yes, we visited for the Admitted Students Day! The calendar for next fall says Dec 11 is the last day of the semester…does that mean the last day of classes and then there are exams, or is that truly the last day of the semester? SW just opened up flights for the holidays and we want to get his flight home booked while the cheap ones are available! Thanks!
I’m not sure, but my guess would be the end of the semester. With the foundation classes there may not be exams, but rather a project. I would call someone at the school to be sure before you book a ticket.
@luvmiballerina I would ask what day the students need to vacate the dorms. For most colleges this is usually right after finals week or the last day of class. That will tell you when your son would need to leave for the airport. He may want a few extra house after everything ends to clean up and do some laundry
Thanks! I called this afternoon and was told that Dec. 11 is the official end of the semester so we are safe to plan on him coming home on the 12th.
