I was recently accepted into umn College of Biological Sciences. I eventually want to go to graduate studies for veternary medicine and I do not know if CBS would be the best undergraduate path. CBS seems like a really good college but CFANS seems to be more hands on with animals. Would CFANS be better for eventually going to the vet school?

It really depends on what you want to major in for undergrad. You can major in Biology in CBS and still take plenty of hands-on classes. You are required to take an organismal biology class, of which you can choose one that is animal focused. Also, as an upperclassman, you get to take elective upper level courses in basically anything biology related, including courses dealing with animals.

You could also major in Animal Science with a Pre-Vet sub plan in CFANS. It will give you all of the courses you need to get into vet school. I don’t know as much about this major, but this link shows you all of the requirements and electives.

I personally would choose Biology because it is more general and gives you more opportunities if you change your mind, as many college students do.
