I just turned in my common app essay, and noticed I'd forgotten to capitalize "Bay Area." I proofread over and over, and I could've sworn that it was capitalized. I'm really panicking, logically I know that this shouldn't make or break my application, but I'm still wondering if it's worth it to call up the schools and ask if I can resubmit over this error. Stupid idea? Am I crazy overreacting?

Overreacting.

If you are the ADCOM and you receive a phone call from a student saying they forgot to capitalize a letter, what would you think?

Ace, I lol’ed at that.

Itspop, you should really only be contacting the office about information mistakes (you forgot to add a school, you entered a GPA wrong, etc). If they even notice that you didn’t capitalize that letter, they’re figure out what you meant by “bay area.”

And it’s not like telling them that you noticed will change the fact that it was submitted as it is. It’s not like the person answering the phone is going to dig up your application to cross out the lowercase letters and write in the capitalized ones for you.
