Minor/Double Major question

I am an Accounting major and want to add something to go with it. I know accounting has such a huge demand in the job market currently, but I still feel like I should have more skills to separate myself from all the other potential accounting majors. I tried minoring in MIS, but after a few classes realized it was not for me so please do not suggest this field as a minor. My following interests are as follows in order:

I have always been very interested in Marketing and would love to minor or double major with it, but I am unsure if that would make much sense. Does anyone know of anyone who paired these two fields and was successful? If anyone has any advice in doing this that would be great.

If the whole Marketing thing is a no go, my next idea was to do something with supply chain management. It is also a growing field and something I would be interested in adding to my resume, but again I do not know if this would go well with Accounting.

I am not into Econ at all so do not suggest that please. I know doubling up with Finance is a popular move, but I have yet to taken a Finance class (i will take one this semester). This could be an option, but only if my other two are shot down.

Any other suggestions would be great too, but if anyone can critique my options and give me some advice that would be great. Thanks

It doesn’t hurt to minor in Marketing. If you do accounting work for the marketing branch of a company, things will make more sense to you than it would other accountants.

Finance does complement Accounting very nicely. The minor likely even has some overlap with the classes you need to take anyways for your Accounting degree. Just about every area of Corporate Finance has Accounting as its foundation.

You might be disappointed that SCM is a lot like MIS. In fact, many schools call it “Management Information Systems: Option in Supply Chain Management”.

Marketing = flexibility
I’m doing Marketing & MIS since I enjoy both fields and both fields are vital to each and every business in existence (at least in today’s world).

Marketing is not much of a major though (If I’m honest) I didn’t learn much (if anything except for a few ‘technical terms’) during the course of my major. I learned virtually everything about Marketing in my free time (side projects) or via part time employment.

You can become a marketing whiz without a degree - but if you do a job search you’ll see that if you have a marketing degree your opportunities are HUGE just because Marketing is such a flexible career.
