Minor in Biomedical Engineering

My major is Mechanical Engineering and i'm planning to couple it with a minor in Biomedical engineering.

Is this a cohesive combination? and what kind of opportunities can i expect?

any input is appreciated..

Minors don't usually helped you in getting a job or internship. It's only for your interests

Mechanical Engineers fair well in biomedical fields, try to get an iternship with a biotech/medical company. This will afford you better opportunities than a minor. Or, find a masters program that will emphasize your field.

If your minor is in something more generic like math or business then yes but something like biomedical engineering is pretty specific and an ME/EE or other engineering with a minor in biomedical would have a good shot of getting into that industry compared to an engineer without the minor with the same major.

So to the OP yes I would say that's a good combination, especially if you plan go for your masters in biomedical which would be a good choice.

^Not to mention that biomechanics is a huge track of biomed eng. A minor definitely couldn't hurt, especially if the op is interested.

Usually a minor takes a while. I know where I went, that could have meant one more year in college; its better to graduate and get to graduate school asap

I can agree that if the minor means another year in school then he should just skip it and go into a graduate program. BUT keep in mind that a biomedical graduate degree will probably have some pre-reqs that an ME will have to take additional classes for.
