I’m currently a freshman at Cornell. I was a Chem wiz in high school (former national finalist in the chem olympiad), but I’ve decided to be a Stats major. I wanted to declare a minor in Chemistry only to discover one does not exist. Anyone know of a related minor with courses focused in Chemistry?
Here’s a list of minors Cornell offers: https://www.cornell.edu/academics/fields.cfm
None really seem related to chemistry, which is unfortunate, although you might find one that still sounds interesting to you. You could also talk to your advisor to see if it would be possible to pick up a second major in chemistry, although I don’t know if that would be possible to do with all the prereqs.
offhand, I can’t think of a situation where having a formal minor in something puts one in any different position than having taken an equivalent concentration of courses in that area without it being dubbed officially as a “minor” by a school that doesn’t offer one in that area.
