Minor mistake... should I contact schools?

I played 1 year of jv and 3 years of varsity soccer. So under the activities sections of my CommonApp, I selected “Athletics: JV/Varsity” and said my sport was soccer. So far so good.

However, when it asked me “please describe this activity, including what you accomplished and any recongnition you received.” All I said was “I was JV MVP my freshmen year and was named team captain my junior year and senior year. In my junior year, the team made it to the state-semi finals.”

Will admissions officials understand that I was team captain of the varsity team? And that the varsity team made it to the state semi-finals?

It would rarely go backward. So they know you are the captain in varsity at least in senior year. I don’t think they need additional info or clarification. It would not affect your application for the subtle difference remained anyway. M Ds play viola in the concert/symphony orchestra and became the section leader in senior year. She basically described her involvement and achievement in orchestra just like your varsity soccer. There is not enough room to further describe it anyway.

Yea there definitley isn’t enough room to describe everything. I just hope they understand that I was captain of a team that was actually really good my junior year.

I also noticed that I didn’t express whether I was on varsity or jv for Cross Country. I was on varsity my sophomore, junior, and senior year. Should this be something I need to be worried about? Do colleges even care if you played jv or varsity?

My counselor suggested to explain these things in the mid year report by the way. @billcsho

My apologies, I meant to say track not cross country^ @billcsho

Leave it alone. They’ll get it.
