I will be attending a UC this fall as a freshmen this fall but I plan to transfer to Berkeley or UCLA after 2 years.

During these 2 years, I know that I will have to complete my GEs at my current UC and I may not be able to finish all the pre-reqs for ECON.

So my question is, is it acceptable that I take some of my pre-req classes at a community college during summer vacation in order to complete all of the pre-reqs?

from what i hear its rather easier to transfer to a top uc from a junior college in california.

plus its a hell of a lot cheaper. although it would suck missing that freshman in college feeling but i guess you dont really care about that since youre looking to transfer.

but to answer your questions i always hear that if a class at a cc is compatible with a uc course there should be no problem.

If it's the summer of this year, and you apply in the fall? Sure. But you can't assert that you'll take the class before enrollment, it has to be finished by the end of the spring semester prior to enrollment.

Do you have a convincing reason that you can only continue your academics satisfactorily at Berkeley, since you haven't even tried the UC you're at. But yeah, junior colleges if you just want to go to Berkeley.

What OP is asking is if it's permissible to take classes at a CCC to fulfill major prereqs if OP cannot finish them at UCSD --not the prestige of the institution.

Yeah, and I know of at least one nearby community college. The econ requirements are rather marginal though, if I remember correctly, and the UCLA/Berkeley vanilla econ major was rather competitive.
However, only econ pre-requisites are two quarters of calculus, and two quarters of econ (maybe ECON 2 as well, since you're at UCSD?).
