"minor" question

I am currently a HS senior looking to major in marketing in college. I want to minor in either aviation or hospitality. However, many college websites I visited have the major listed, but as a minor. Some colleges (for example Boston University) list the (hospitality) minor. I was wondering if I could still minor in hospitality in a college that does not specifically list it as a minor. Does anyone know?

Worst case scenario, could I take all my electives in hospitality and put on my resume that I minored in hospitality? What exactly proves you actually minored in something?

Thanks!

You can only minor in something if the college offers it as a minor. Even if you take all of your electives in hospitality, if the college doesn’t offer a hospitality minor, you can’t legitimately declare that you minored in hospitality. However, some colleges allow independent student-designed majors/minors, so you might be able to create your own hospitality minor.
