i'm currently a comparative literature major. i'm THINKING about picking up a minor, though. i'm interested in advertising/marketing/publishing and thinking/debating about law in the future. here are the minors i'm considering (i have enough time to pick up a minor as of now, OR i could just choose to take random classes i like....) i've gotten it to:

Political Science Minor
Film, Television, and Digital Media Minor

i'm not sure if picking up a minor will even really help at all. can anyone recommend a minor to me?

you dont need anything for ad/marketing/pub - ideally, comm major but if you look at bruinview listings and job ads on craigslist - its not imperative that that's your major --- sell your strengths... and internship exp is huge!

oh and PS minor is a ing * to get into. id be hesitant. DESMA is sortve impacted so might be a pain.

yes minors help - business admin minors for instance will easily supplement a lib arts background or something less than ideal

I'm also wondering, how does this help students looking to go into Medical School? I want to pickup a philosophy minor because I'm truly interested in it, but it will crowd my schedule and so I'd rather not pick it up if it won't help my medical school admissions.

if it will differentiate you in a good way, i don't see the harm. if it's something you're passionate about, i also don't see the harm. it will look as though you did something just because you cared about it, and didn't simply fill the grad school checkboxes.

yahoo: I don't really know, I just heard something about it.

If you have room in your schedule, then I really don't see anything wrong with picking up a minor. but if taking on a heavier load would distract you from your larger goal of (going to med/law/business school) then I wouldn't do it.
