I am a rising Junior majoring in political science. After spending this past year doing qualitative and quantitative analysis and having taken graduate level courses for statistical modeling, I've decided that I want to have a career in data analysis of some sort. I am doing a paid internship over this summer as a data analyst for an analytic company that provide marketing recommendations for big multinational companies.

So with my major as political science with a "research, design, and analysis" track (RDA), I'd like to know what will best aid in my career path: a minor in economics or a certificate in computer science. My knowledge so far is that companies, at least when hiring for internships would rather see a economics major than a political science major. With that in mind, I feel that having an economics minor would help in the screening process for jobs and interview. On the other hand, the certificate in computer science will probably provide more applicable skill sets such as data modeling, algorithm building, and the like.

So considering my career path, which would I benefit most from? The minor or certificate?
