Minor?

So, I was recently accepted to LSA today. I did not dual apply to music, but I am now realizing how much I don’t want to stop music. I know that a major in music is out of the question right now because auditions are going on right now. My question is: Can I minor in music? I know that at some schools this isn’t an option. And if not, what are my options? Thanks for your help!

What is LSA?

Hi notmamarose!...how are you? :-)
its Lituature school of Sceice and the Arts...or something like that...i had also applied to that school....cause i applied to UMich to do a dual-degree program...

angela, i think you are allowed to minor in music, but im not entirely sure...have u called the shcool to find out?

ah ha!...it is the school of lituature, Science and the arts...:-)...lol

Thanks, Kayla! It always puts a smile on my face to "see" you on these discussion lists, and I was thrilled to read how well Unifieds seem to have gone for you. I think you are a very brave girl, indeed, to travel alone from Barbados to the US and then, from city to city there, doing your auditions. All of us here on CC are rooting for you and KNOW you are going to end up at a great program. I am intrigued with LSA at Michigan; can kids double major in, say, English or writing and MT? Kayla, is that what you did?

Kids can double major in many things plus MT at UM: currently, I know of double majors in MT and -

Spanish
Communications
Poli Sci
Pre-Law
Philosophy

And those are only the ones I know of (upperclassmen). They have very tough schedules and little free time, but it definitely is possible and those students seem to thrive and love it most of the time.

P.S. It is theoretically possible but seems to be actually very difficult to double major in a science and MT, b/c of the intense time requirements for science labs. A friend who was a chem and MT double major simply couldn't do both and ended up opting for MT only after a year or so.
