Hi fellow CC'ers,

I'm really interested in Oberlin because of the combination of liberal arts and music (among plenty of other things), and I was wondering whether a non-Con student could minor in something like ethnomusicology, which is only offered at the Con.

Thanks.

According to the [course catalog](<a href=“Program: Minor in Ethnomusicology - Oberlin College - Modern Campus Catalog™”>Program: Minor in Ethnomusicology - Oberlin College - Modern Campus Catalog™) students have to be enrolled in the Con to minor in the Con. Most courses are open to students in both divisions, though. So you could still take the classes - you just wouldn’t have the official minor.

Take a look at the “college music” major, for nonconservatory students interested in studying ethnomusicology and other music disciplines. You could also enroll in courses of interest in ethnomusicology (some are especially aimed at college vs. conservatory students) and participate in ensembles through the conservatory or exco although you could not officially “minor.”

Thanks for the help!
