Minoring/Double Majoring in another college?

I am applying to CAS intending to major in sociology, but am heavily interested in the arts. I don't want a BFA alone and probably cannot do the dual degree program between CAS and CAAP because of financial (i.e. my parents don't want to pay for it and there's no way I'd qualify for aid). Is it possible to minor in CAAP while attending CAS?

I've tried researching this on the website and have found it extremely confusing.

Also, what is even up with Primary/Alternate. Could they make the PDF of info on it any harder to understand?

I’m not sure if there are minors available in AAP, but you can certainly take AAP courses as electives. Also, minors are only noted on your transcript, not on your diploma.

you can’t double major across colleges - unless it’s one of those specific dual degree programs - that’s a rule.

you CAN, however, minor across colleges, given that the minor/concentration is offered by the department.

I don’t see what the financial reasons for not doing the dual degree program would be?

It’s not like you have to pay two college’s tuition.

keep in mind that AAP classes are a little…difficult (for lack of a better word)…to take if you are not in the college. since the 3 majors in the school are limited enrollment, most of the classes only allot for the number of students in the program, thus giving them 1st priority. not to discourage you or anything. just wanted to give you a heads up

@ chendrix: the dual degree has a fifth year (so another year of tuition)

Thanks guys, this is good to know. I did find a minor called “visual studies”…does anyone know anything about that?
