minoring in management

I got accepted for Chemistry and I want to perhaps minor in management of business. is this possible at Tech?

The management department only has one minor, Engineering Management, which in my opinion is meh. ([Georgia Tech - College of Management | Minors](http://mgt.gatech.edu/programs/under/current/minors.html)).

I would look into the many certificates they offer, such as Marketing, Finance, Entrepreneurship, etc. [Georgia Tech - College of Management | Certificate Overview](http://mgt.gatech.edu/programs/under/current/cert/index.html)

oh great! thanks

The T&M program (engineering management) is a very selective and difficult program to join with limited enrollment. You apply in your sophomore year, need a high GPA, and have to pass an interview process. If selected, you work directly with managers at Fortune 500 companies in Atlanta on actual projects. Many of those companies then come back and hire only from the T&M program for certain positions.

It’s a lot more than “meh”.

My assessment of the "meh"ness of Engineering Management was based on one honors seminar I took which was also a part of the Engineering Management curriculum. That particular course was “meh” - the professor basically just talked about his research area for a semester, with an almost weekly guest speaker who talked about THEIR research areas and the business perspective on that research. It was interesting to get a feel for what was going on in certain fields, but I did not gain much intellectual benefit from the course, and feel overall it was a waste of time.

I know nothing of the program’s selectiveness or difficulty in relation to other management classes, nor dare I make the claim that my one class was representative of the program. Just my experience, fwiw :)
