So, is racism a bigger thing here than other schools(Ivy league and public). Also, I heard rumors that UPenn has a lot of Self-Segregating People. Is there any truth to this? Is there inter-racial dating and hooking up? I watched some videos and saw that parties are mainly white. Also, what about the Greek life? Is it racially accepting? Are there any fraternities with reputations(good or bad)?

Racism occurs everywhere. I’m not surprised its even prevalent in the Ivy atmosphere of UPenn. I guess some people are still attached with the beliefs of “superiority” and “inferiority” between races.

You know racism will occur at any college you go to. My school predominately minority sends students to Penn each year (Hopefully I’m lucky!) and they have not mentioned racial strife or issues at Penn. Also, most people feel most comfortable with others of their own identity. Not to say you must socialize with only of those of your identity, but it is easier for some.

If organizations discriminate against you can file a complaint against them!

I read the article a year ago and I am still committed to Penn. Do not run from the problem try to fix it from within!

I don’t notice much in terms of racism at Penn although there are plenty of drunks who will just diss you with whatever reason they can find.

There are definitely minorities with reputations (and some have been banned in the past). Most frats are predominately white although asian/indian frats also exist. Nothing against fraternities/sororities but you can pretty much expect the same from greek life here as at any other college.

The general atmosphere is pretty accepting though I have to say, as an international, I do feel like even the minorities at Penn are pretty Americanized.
