A URM is supposed to be a person who has gone through discrimination and all. I don't understand why a middle eastern person is not considered a URM, especially since there are so under represented in colleges and have gone through discrimination

Thanks for that great insight. You're going places...

middle easterners are relatively overrepresented in colleges compared to their percent of the population

"URM is supposed to be a person who has gone through discrimination"

I think affirmative action is more about a low supply of certain students, and consequently a high demand.

I like how we are all using economic principles all over this forum. Mostly cause we all are taking econ.

i did not take econ

Im sorry...
I was mostly generalizing.

i've half a mind to report you for stereotyping

whoo...stereotyping the fact that most of the people on CC (juniors in H.S. or above) have taken an econ class...

how terrrrrible of me.

You have mastered sarcasm as well as econ I see.

i'm reeeeeeeeeeeeeally imprrrrrrrrrrressed

It's because economics deal with the positive rather than normative views that some express on CC with respect to changing practices (i.e. backlash against AA, changing private holistic admissions, ignoring inequity pre-higher education).
