Jprencipe, I dont think he meant it that way, but I understand where your coming from, b/c if someone said Long Live White People than I would, along with others on this board would be offended.

Yeah ... that's sort of along the lines I was thinking. It's wonderful to have pride for your own culture, but I guess long live minorities sounded a lot like separatism, which most people wouldn't encourage. But I'm sure DMC didn't mean it in a negative way.

And I am very happy for all the kids that got the invite and are excited to be admitted :).

Joey

OMG I am sorry. LOL You guys know I was not trying to be offensive! I am no separatist. I love all you guys and I will see you on March 31.

PS: Babouche, keep your head up, girl!

so sad.. nothing for asians.. we're no longer "under represented minority". Such bs that there is such a thing as a minority among americans. that totally blows man.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself NoCreativity... You have good stats, you think you are not a URM anymore, travel America. You're just lucky there are no "whites only" signs like I saw growing up. 1480 SAT and you are whinning. get a life, swathmore or amherst is for you, maybe they will make your bed, but not your selfworth. Not Duke. Your prejudice for special treatment reaks through you posts. grow up. Duke is Diversity. You whin more that real URM would ever do.

preach!

PREACH!

Am I the only one that finds it interesting that we will be at Duke the day we are supposed to find out!?!? I'm wondering if they'll just tell us that day... Maybe during the Dean's Session scheduled for April 1st... or the 31st at the Dinner with Faculty and Administrators...

AAAAAAHHHHHH! Im sooooo excited... I never expected this!

Yeah me neither. its so exciting to know that we will be accepted when we get up there. I wonder how many kids were invited????? Someone told me like 40 kids but im not sure.

who is going to duke for sure on this message board?

Like, who will CHOOSE to go to duke? I am weighing between DUke and Dartmouth right now. I dunno though.

eh
why do you have to put it like that? "choose" lol, duke is an awesome school, people would kill to go to duke...i know what you meant, but still.
i am almost sure that i am going to duke....depending upon financial aid. i just wanted to get to know some people before getting there. =)

No, i did not mean it like that! I would kill to go here as well. I just thought that u and me will be getting in (minority letter) so the real question is...do YOU want to go to duke?

Though we were invited, it's still not official yet. I can't afford to take anything for granted, but there is a very strong likelihood of getting accepted if you attend the invitation. Personally for me, I doubt going to Duke is worthwhile in terms of financial expenses, since I definitely plan on going to graduate school (hopefully medicine or Ph.D). It totally depends on how much financial aid I'll get. Otherwise, I'd much rather get it cheaper at UPitt (half ride) or SUNY Bing, or maybe if I get into UVa and manage to change residency since my aunt lives there. I'm more worried about financial aid than anything else. As if trying to maintain an outstanding gpa while attending one of the most competitive school's in the nation isn't hard enough, I wonder if I can really handle paying off such a huge financial burden.

NO INVITATION YET......WHY??????? I am 100% latina. I love Duke

A surprisingly large amount of my friends were choosing between Duke and Dartmouth last year, Devil May Cry!

(Also- you don't need to ATTEND the weekend to get accepted. I didn't go last year, and I got in anyway.)

oh WOW! BLUESTAR, HELP ME BUDDY! It is essentially between those schools. Cornell is a close third though. In Dartmouth you feel like a part of a family. That is what intrigues me.

I'll PM u sometime to talk.

about ten days....

yeah im so excited. the only problem i have is that i will find out from most of my schools on thursday night online and i really want to know. it just seems awkward to celebrate getting accepted or crying over being rejected while you are there.

yeah... it would suck to get rejected by Duke too... that would be terrible of them! I would pack-up and leave right then...

LMFAO

Yes, that would suck a lot
