Anyone know good scholarships for Blacks?
Full scholarships would be awesome.

Ron Brown
Jackie robinson
Gates Millenium

for starters

thanx i'll look them up

the gates scholarship owns.

all the scholarships that amnesia mentioned are quite competitive. Gkilla2005, you can try googling minority scholarships.

Googling scholarships takes A LONG time, but, trust me, you can find some good stuff.

Also, look for local organizations that give out scholarships that target minorities. If you don't go to a majority-minority school, maybe one day next fall you could go to the nearest high school that is majority-minority and try to get some applications. A little outlandish, but the scholarships for blacks are usually sent to these schools via fax. It has been my experience that many of the minority scholarship organizations do not advertise their scholarships online.

Where are you planning to go? I know some schools have their own full tuition minority scholarships (UW Madison).

jaina,

What full tuition minority scholarship does UW-Madison offer?

In my experience, you'll be better off checkin' out local scholarship. Every Black greek organization has a graduate chapter in most cities...most all of them have scholarships, for example.

The Gates et al group are good....but beware..you've gotta have a pretty rockin' story for those. If you aren't poor...fagedda about it. TRUST ME.

Does single parent under 40K qualify as poor?

40K is the magic number!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A single parent making under 40K is eligible for Federal Pell Grants!!!!!!!!!! Actually i think its 41K

40K will also get you a full tuition scholarship at Harvard

That's why I applied there

what about MIT? Do you know their policy?

MIT is very generous with aid. If you can get in, then the school will basically pay for your education.

Let's say I attend Harvard and family makes under 40K and then I receive $20,000 in scholarships. Do they keep the 20K for themselves or do I get some for personal expenses?
