Hey.

I have a quick question about URMs...

my moms side is all Latina and my dad's side is South African. If I claim that I am both...how much will this be to my advantage? At least for a school like dartmouth?

I don’t think being both Latina and African will help much more than solely being one or the other, unless it’s a big part of your identity and you highlight it in an essay.

reach out to the admissions office and tell them you are a “diversity” candidate. it will really help you big time.
is your dad a black south african or white one? if he is white just go with the latino angle. if he is black I think play up both angles. you do not need to brag, just let them know you are “diverse” and need some guidance, they will understand and move ahead with what they need to do.
also do not ask questions like do you lower standards or increase aid. they will not appreciate that. just ask for some guidance.

You asked the same question on the Harvard forum. Is your father black or white south african? Are you a US citzen or perm resident? It matters
