This is probably a strange question, but are there any advantages in being a minority student? I am thinking in the sense of special eligibility for scholarships, internships, jobs, programs, and etc.

i think it's a little easier for minorities to get in even though they say it's not true

That's not true. California outlawed affirmative action and plus they don't even consider race in comprehensive review. They look more at how the student took advantage of the opportunities given to them, leadership and overcoming adversity.

They base it off socio-economic status, not by how much melinin you have in your skin

Well this is a weird question.

The OP asked about "eligibility for scholarships, internships, jobs, programs, and etc" only for minority students. The truth of this is that YES-there are A LOT of such programs out there which take minority status into account; but UC undergraduate admissions is not one of them. Rather, they UCs look at socioeconomic background because while being black does not necessarily mean you have had limited opportunities, being poor does.

Unless you are native indian or black, it's not gonna help you.
Asians are no longer considered minority...
They are the majority.

I have spoken with some African-American admissions officers and they do look at strong URM applicants...in a pool of URMs. Writing about interesting topics( Essay #1-Wrote about APUSH and how i learned about my african-american culture/identity...led me to form a club and make a diff. in community.. Essay#2 Talked about forming my own clarinet quartet..and our performances around town(Now this might be a plus because i'm an AFRICAN-AMERICAN male playing the clarinet...and i formed my own quartet...Essay#3 I talked abut my brother's car accident...and how i had to make sure he ate, did his physical therapy...etc...and how it affected my sophomore yr..but i also talked about how i overcame the situation..by getting a 4.3 my junior year and excelling in AP/Honors courses.) I also might have gotten an extra little boost because i auditioned for the music director at berkeley. All the things i mentioned above might make a black applicant like myself standout amongst other african-american applicants.

There are some scholarships limited to URMs- the Gates, etc. You can do research on this.

UC admissions do not take race into account.

Well they are not SUPPOSE to

didn't UC get sued for affirmitive action during the 70's but the supreme court said affirmitive action was ok?

Lib logic.
