<p>Hey is anyone planning to do psych/premed at duke?</p>
<p>But I got the minority letter and was later accepted, but my friend who didn't get the letter (and is 100% minority--I am only 25%) was rejected.</p>
<p>It isn't a final judgement, it's more like a notification that you've been accepted early action. If you didn't it's like getting deffered.</p>
<p>I noticed the OP said it was for the Black Student Union, so does the 'minority' student likely letter not pertain to Asians?</p>
<p>...Asians are not an underpriviledged minority, so they aren't likely to get a minority student letter. Notice how the US is probably around 3-5% Asian, or at least that's how it is in my hometown in NC... yet top universities like Duke probably have around 20%. Underrepresented? I think not. I am 50% Asian, but I said I was only 25% minority, that is, 25% Hispanic.</p>

I just really hope that I don't come back home and then receive a rejection letter in the mail. ouch..</p>
<p>Oh, you're not the only excited one. I'm beyond boosted. My dream school telling me early that they want me? I was prepping my mind for rejection so I wouldn't be so depressed in April. But now.... <em>sigh</em></p>
<p>But yeah, I hope I don't get rejected in the end. That would be a blow. That's why I haven't told too many people about my "possible acceptance" yet.</p>

<p>and for your information attending the event does not affect the decision, my guidance counselor spoke with my hackley on the phone and he assured us it was a way of getting comfortable with the Duke community</p>

<p>Listen people...I know its not a 100% that we will get in...but it is a damn good chance.. So for now be happy...and have faith. I watched gladiator the other night. And the main character was like "Three weeks i see myself picking flowers....what you believe is what will be". I see myself at Duke university this fall as a member of the class of 2010. Lets not worry that much and have some fun at this event. GO DUKE!!!</p>

<p>hey guys, what are a couple areas duke is really known for?</p>
<p>There med school is really good, but in terms of undergraduate studies they are pretty solid across the board. One thing that really attracted me was the multitude of interdisciplainary programs. Duke is also a very progressive school. By that i mean their future is pretty bright. Duke is not that old of a school compared to some of the other top tier universities however they have moved all the way up to the top 5 spot, beating out some of the other ivy leagues which have been around forever. I plan to do psych/premed at duke and i hear they have a really good psych program. also they have a new disicipline called cognitive neuroscience which is also awesome. If you wanted more info i would just check out their website. Its been my homepage. lol</p>

<p>jaw, you have relatively good stats, but remember that great essays that show your true self and also an awesome interview need to go along w/ any app.</p>

<p>It was awesome, for those of you that didn't go you miss out on a lot. You all probably know this but, if you got the BSAI invite then you've been accepted, they told us the first night we were there.</p>
