Minors and hotels?

Has anyone here been able to stay at a hotel even if they were under 18?
I am planning a trip to the West Coast to visit colleges, and the biggest problem we're facing is finding a place for me to stay (spefically in Oregon). We've called hotels and 2 said under 18 would not be able to stay alone, while another one said that my mother would have to send a written letter of consent to the hotel and then I would be able to stay. But I am still like worried that it will not work out.

Anyone have any experience with this? There HAS to be a way a hotel can let me stay there even if I"m under 18. My mom can book it and I would have a credit card to check in.

I'm sure it can be done b/c a lot of my friends rented houses for Beach Week and there aren't 18 yet.

BTW I'm 17.

Yeah but maybe someone who was 18 payed for it for them?

I mean there HAS to be a way it can be done.

I have made reservations for my S before he was 18. I tell the hotel that my son will be arriving before me, and that he should be allowed to check into the room. He has a credit card. I never show up, of course. This has worked fine.

That really works? The hotel never checked on him? DId you have to reserve for 2?

I reserved for myself and my son (doesn't cost anything more).

Anyone else have any input??

No one else?

Sounds alot like Home Alone 2

Why not ask a campus contact from the colleges you plan to visit if they can recommend an accommodation, maybe something on campus. Or maybe a youth hostel off campus.

The three colleges I am visiting don't offer any kind of housing or hosting. My only option is hotels.

nevermind, i found a hostel in town that i will stay at for cheaper than the hotel and meet a bunch of different people too.

Bed and Breakfasts are also excellent options for minors.
