After realizing graphic design is rather impractical for steady employment, I've set my sights on an advertising major. I also realize this isn't much more practical... I'm looking for minors(should they even be worth the effort) to augment this.

I plan to Major in Advertising with a focus or design. I'm thought that graphic design, information technology, marketing, and or East Asian studies minors may be beneficial. Informational technology would give me more knowledge of the various scripting languages to manage online ads/websites, and marketing would teach me a bit of the overarching category of my major(maybe landing me a job within a marketing department if I cannot secure one in advertising). I want to focus on designing adds so I'm definitely going to at least minor or graphic design. Also, I speak Korean and Japanese from my parents on either side so becoming completely fluent in either may increase my employ-ability. In the best case scenario I would be working for a company linked to or located in East Asia. I'm not looking to take all of these minors(hopefully). I'm also not opposed to going to college for an extra year or two to finish this schooling, but I'll definitely be looking at schools in California to avoid out of state tuition.

So I questions are: Are my supposed benefits from the minors valid? Are there other courses/reasons that are more beneficial? Are taking these minors even worth the extra course load? Am I better of Double Majoring in one if I'm going to be in school for an extended amount of time anyway?

I'll be a junior in high school next year; however, I like to ponder my decisions thoroughly(and very slowly) and I want to begin early in picking the schooling I'll be aiming for!
