Minors?

I am looking into going into computer engineering. I was thinking about getting a minor in something too. Any idea what a good minor to go along with computer engineering would be?
Also is a minor in Business worth anything?

A math minor would be easy to get, but I don’t know if it would add much. It would show that you want to take that extra step, and it would probably only be another course or two. I have heard that a business minor could be helpful. I had some friends that are doing that. However, it’s not as easy as it seems. At my school is requires another 15 hours, which isn’t exactly a walk in the park. Engineering is tough as it is, and throwing in another 15 hours, makes it that much more difficult. A business minor, if you are devoted, could definitely be a good asset walking into an interview and could make you more attractive for hiring and advancement to managerial positions

Let’s not talk about minor until you finish your sophomore year.
That’s because often time you will find that doing a minor beside math is very difficult. The rule of thumb says that you should only minor for one of the two, or both reasons: the minor is practical and can be integrated, and / or for self-interest.

A minor in history as a computer engineering is not going to grant you more job offers, but if you take that for personal interest by all mean go ahead.

Just wait until the end of your sophomore year. Is a math minor necessary? I don’t know. For my school the two extra classes we need for minor are often restricted to just two courses, because of other pre-requites so you can’t take any other math courses but just those two.

Is a physics minor useful? Is a chemistry minor useful? Most likely no, unless you know have a very clear idea of what you want to pursue as a career.

I recommend a minor in enjoying a social life and not wasting time studying.

Does social life include sleeping too? I think that’s important too. :]

Most students take that as a major.

Very true.

Good Grades

Social life

Enough sleep

Minor
Choose two.

Dylan, I don’t think you would get much out of a business minor. I can see where using an elective course to take intro to accounting would be worthwhile, but the rest really won’t help you.

Thanks everyone! I think i will pick Good Grades and Social Life.

Good luck, Dylan. And you still need enough sleep!

Still have 2 more years in highschool so plenty of time to figure everything else out
