MIP, Fake ID, Open Container

I am a freshman at Ohio University and am on the soccer team. I was walking from a friend's party and got caught by a cop with a beer. I was pretty plastered and I gave him a fake ID. I got arrested. It's my first offense. I was wondering if anyone had any experience about how schools and sports teams would react to this and whether it would be in my interest to hire a lawyer.

First start with a call to the parents who hopefully can guide you. Since you got arrested (not just fined) I would consult a lawyer. I would try to find a lawyer that is also familiar with your school policies.

As I see it you have many issues (legal, scholarship, honor code, athletic code/policies) that all could have minor to serious ramifications, A lot depends on how serious your school and soccer coach are about the Honor Code, Also does the local police report arrests to the school? Were you on school property?

I would also probably refrain from admissions of guilt, in writing, on publicly accessible web forums.

The local police does report arrests even though I was off campus. The coach has suspended people for being caught drinking, but only for a game or two

anyone else

Your situation is no joke.
Immediately tell your parents to hire you a local lawyer to get the arrest expunged from your record.
You need to know what the lawyer can do for you.
You do not want to have to explain your arrest on ALL future job applications, security checks, interviews.
You also have to inform your coach.
He will take the news better if you can tell him you have hired a lawyer to consul you on your arrest.
Hope you at least faked what college and sport in your thread.
